Peal at the church of the Holy Sepulchre

On Monday 24th April 2013, eight members of the Bedfordshire Association of Change Ringers rang a peal on the bells of the church of the Holy Sepulchre. The peal comprised 5024 changes of Spliced Surprise Major in eight methods and took 2 hours and 48 minutes to complete.

Sunday 28th April

At the special request of Rev D McConkey, Northampton Ringers Society members will attempt to ring a quarter peal before the evening service at All Saints on Sunday 28th April 2013. The service will be dedicated to the memory of Baroness Thatcher who died recently and the bells will be half-muffled. As a consequence there will be no ringing for the morning service at All Saints on that day but ringing will take place for the 11am morning service at Holy Sepulchre as usual.

Re-decoration at All Saints

Although it had been discussed over a number of years, the re-painting of the walls of the ringing room at All Saints had, for one reason or another, never happened. But this changed on Saturday 20th April when a working party organised by Tower Captain Bridget Paul and Steeple Keeper Peter Craddock carried out the work. Other members of the party were Marion Johnson, Liz Moore, Colin Sampson and Graham Paul.

Recent visiting ringers in Northampton

The weekend of 13th and 14th April was busy in Northampton Town centre as far as bell ringing went.
A touring party from the Rugby Deanery of the Coventry Diocesan Guild rang in the town on Saturday 13th. Ringing began at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre at 2pm with the party moving on to All Saints at 3.15pm and finished at St Peter's where ringing started at 4.45pm.
During the afternoon of Sunday 14th, ten members of the South Northamptonshire Society rang a peal of Lincolnshire Surprise Royal at All Saints. The peal was arranged to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first peal of the tenor ringer, Barry R Eglesfield, which had been rung at All Saints on 15th April 1963.
