Visiting bands in Northampton during the summer months of 2014

Three bands rang in Northampton during July, August and September 2014.
On Tuesday 29th July ringers from the Exeter area were welcomed at All Saints with ringing taking place between 4.45pm and 5.30pm.
On Saturday 9th August, ringers from the Bristol area attempted to ring quarter peals at All Saints, St Peter's and Holy Sepulchre. Those at All Saints and Holy Sepulchre were unfortunately unsuccessful.
On Friday 26th September, members of the Lancashire Association visited All Saints, St Giles and Holy Sepulchre.

First Sunday quarter peal at All Saints

Rev Dr David McConkey, Parish Priest at All Saints, and good friend of the bell ringers will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his ordination at a service at All Saints on 11th July. It was felt to be appropriate therefore that the first Sunday quarter peal on 6th July should be rung with the best wishes of the bell ringers to Father David on this achievement. The quarter peal which was rung immediately before the service of Choral Evensong and Benediction comprised 1296 changes of Grandsire Caters and was completed in 49 minutes. Those taking part were as follows: 1 Nicholas Parsons, 2 Bridget Paul, 3 Barbara King (from Towcester), 4 Colin Brown, 5 Alan Cozens, 6 Greg Jordan (who conducted the ringing), 7 Jonathan King (also from Towcester), 8 Graham Paul, 9 Jennie Higson and 10 Robin Hickmott.

Quarter peal at Abington

Northampton Ringers Society members successfully completed a quarter peal at St Peter & St Paul, Abington in Northampton on Monday 30th June 2014. 1260 changes of Grandsire Doubles were rung in 43 minutes by the following: 1 Graham Paul, 2 Colin Brown, 3 Greg Jordan (conductor), 4 Nick Wilson-Chatt, 5 Colin Sampson, and 6 Joe Wilson-Chatt. The quarter peal was specially arranged in memory of Sydney Smith, great grandfather of Joe Wilson-Chatt who was ringing his first quarter peal.
