NewsQuarter peal for Trinity Sunday1260 changes of Grandsire Triples were rung on St Giles bells last Sunday afternoon, 31st May 2015, to mark Trinity Sunday. Northampton Ringers society members taking part were: Bridget Paul 1, John Lindsay 2, Giles Willson 3, Nick Chatt 4, Robin Hickmott 5, Graham Paul 6, Jennie Paul 7 and Nicholas Parsons 8. The quarter peal took 50 minutes to complete and was conducted by Graham Paul. Quarter peal rung for the Royal birthAll Saints bells rang out on Sunday afternoon, 17th May 2015, to celebrate the recent birth of Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, the second child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. 1250 changes of Superlative Surprise Major were rung in 47 minutes with the ringers taking part being as follows: 1 Nick Chatt, 2 Jennie Paul, who conducted the ringing, 3 Bridget Paul, 4 Giles Willson, 5 Greg Jordan, 6 Robin Hickmott, 7 Graham Paul, 8 Stephen Borman. Commemorating VE DayThe 70th anniversary of VE Day was on 8th May 2015, and HM Government requested that church bells be rung throughout the country some time during that weekend. Northampton Ringers Society members responded to this request by ringing before a special service at All Saints on the 8th, and at three of the Northampton Town Centre churches during the afternoon of 9th May. The bells at St Peter's church were rung starting at 2pm, and this was followed by ringing at All Saints and then at St Giles. Regrettably because of a theatrical production taking place in the church it wasn't possible to ring at Holy Sepulchre. Those taking part in the ringing were Bridget Paul, Alan Paul, Graham Paul, Roger Fountain, Helen Hayward, Liz Moore, Shirley Jones, Giles Willson, Kevin Browne, Nick Parsons, Marian Johnson, Michael Letts, Ian Buckby and Colin Brown. East Sussex ringers visit NorthamptonA party of ringers, mainly from Southover in Lewes, East Sussex, visited Northamptonshire over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. They rang in Northampton on Monday 4th May 2015 with the programme being St Peter's 9.45 to 10.30am, All Saints from 11am to 12 noon, and St Giles from 1.30 to 2.30pm. Ringing at Holy SepulchreDuring much of April and May 2015, the church of the Holy Sepulchre will be used as a theatre for two productions and little ringing will be possible over this period. Service ringing will take place on Sundays 10th and 24th May but there will be no practice ringing until June 10th. |
