On Sunday 11th, eight members of the Daventry Branch of the Peterborough Diocesan Guild rang 1250 Cambridge Surprise Major at Holy Sepulchre and on Sunday 18th, a band from Cheshire and Lancashire spending the weekend in Northamptonshire, rang 1296 Erin Caters at All Saints and 1259 Grandsire Caters at St Giles. Clean up at St GilesA working party under the leadership of St Giles' Tower Captain, Giles Willson, and his deputy, Jennie Paul, are to be congratulated on what has recently been achieved in the tower. As well as cleaning the ringing room some time ago, the party met on Saturday last, 10th October, to try and remove all traces of the pigeon infestation which had made the bell chamber a thoroughly unhealthy place to be. Seven hours hard work with brushes and wire wool has made the bells, frame and fittings guano free, and it is now possible to carry out minor maintenance of the installation in pleasant surroundings. Fifth Wednesday practice in SeptemberBy kind permission of the local ringers, we shall practise at St Andrew's, Whilton, on 30th September. The practice will commence at 7pm. Another fifth Sunday quarter peal.August's fifth Sunday quarter peal was at All Saints and was notable for being the first of spliced surprise major by the Northampton Ringers Society.
