Inspection of the bell installation at All Saints

David Pygott from John Taylor & Co visited Northampton by invitation on Wednesday 20th January 2016 and carried out a thorough inspection of the bells and fittings. All was found to be in order although slight adjustments were made to the tenor clapper and pulley block. He also visited St Peter and St Paul, Abington, and St Mary, Dallington, the following day.

PDG Northampton Branch AGM 2016

The Annual General Meeting of the Northampton Branch of the PDG took place at Brafield-on-the-Green on Saturday January 23rd 2016. Three members of the Northampton Ringers Society were elected as officers of the Branch, as follows: Ringing Master - Giles Willson, Deputy Ringing Master - Robin Hickmott, Steward - Jennie Paul. We wish them every success in their roles.

Third Sunday quarter peal for January

January's third Sunday quarter peal attempt at All Saints by Northampton Ringers Society members was successful with 1280 changes of Kent Treble Bob Major being rung in 51 minutes . Those taking part were as follows: 1 Jennie Paul, 2 Graham Paul (who conducted the ringing), 3 Giles Willson, 4 Jude Platts, 5 Nick Parsons, 6 Nick Chatt, 7 Robin Hickmott, and 8 Colin Sampson. The band were pleased to be able to dedicate the ringing to Nick Parsons first grandchild, Ayla Rose Mira, who was born to Nick's daughter, Alice, on 24th December 2016.

A busy weekend at St Giles.

The weekend of 28th and 29th November saw a lot of activity on St Giles' bells.
On Saturday 28th ten ringers led by Shirley McGill and drawn from ringing centres across the country, including Basingstoke, Birmingham, Bristol and London met to ring a peal at St Giles. The attempt for Bristol S Royal was successful with 5042 changes being rung in 3 hours and 26 minutes. The conductor was Ian Fielding.
The following day, Advent Sunday, eight members of the Northampton Ringers Society rang 1260 Plain Bob Triples in 51 minutes. Those taking part were as follows: 1 Alan Cozens, 2 Graham Paul, 3 Jennie Paul, 4 Nick Chatt, 5 Robin Hickmott, 6 Giles Willson, 7 Nick Parsons, and 8 Colin Sampson. The conductor was Nick Parsons.
