NewsNorthampton Ringers Society members on tourAbout twenty members and friends of the Northampton Ringers Society enjoyed an outing in the Northamptonshire countryside on Easter Monday, 21st April 2014. Ringing took place at five churches to the east of Northampton. These were St Mary the Virgin, Whiston; St Mary Magdalene, Castle Ashby; St Mary, Grendon; St Peter & St Paul, Easton Maudit; and St Mary, Bozeat. Refreshment was taken afterwards at the Rose and Crown Public House in Yardley Hastings. All Saints Ringer's AGMThe Annual General Meeting of the Company of Ringers of All Saints Church, Northampton, took place in the church on Wednesday 7th May 2014. The meeting began at approximately 7.45pm with the Parish Priest, Father David McConkey, in the chair. Reports from the Tower Captain, Bridget Paul; the Steeple Keeper, Peter Craddock; and the Treasurer, Debbie Sampson, were received and approved and all officers were re-elected. "First Sunday" quarter peal on a SaturdayLiz Moore is a regular ringer for evening services at All Saints but her employment prevents her getting to the church in time to be included in a "first Sunday" quarter peal. Liz had long wished to ring a quarter peal on eight and Northampton Ringers Society quarter peal arranger, Jennie Higson, managed to achieve this by organising the ringing of a "first Sunday" quarter peal on a Saturday. 1260 Grandsire Triples was rung in 48 minutes at All Saints on Saturday 5th April by the following: 1 Liz Moore (first quarter on eight bells), 2 Bridget Paul, 3 John Lindsay, 4 Greg Jordan, who conducted the ringing, 5 Giles Willson, 6 Robin Hickmott, 7 Graham Paul, 8 Jennie Higson. First fifth Sunday quarter pealFor the first fifth Sunday quarter peal 1296 Plain Bob Caters was rung at St Giles on March 30th 2014. The quarter peal was conducted by Jennie Higson and included visitors from Towcester and Daventry. The band comprised the following: 1 Bridget Paul, 2 Jennie Higson, 3 Barbara King, 4 Greg Jordan, 5 Jonathan King, 6 Giles Willson, 7 Nicholas Parsons, 8 Robin Hickmott, 9 Graham Paul, 10 Brett Masters. Barbara and Jonathan King are Towcester ringers; Brett Masters comes from Daventry. Holy Week 2014As is customary, there will be no practice during Holy Week. |
