Peterborough Diocesan Guild news

At its Annual General meeting on 28th January at St Luke's church in Duston, Northampton, the Northampton Branch of the Peterborough Diocesan Guild appointed five Northampton Ringers Society members to its team of officers. These were Karen Dunn as Treasurer, Giles Willson as Ringing Master, Robin Hickmott as Deputy Ringing Master, Nick Chatt as Steward and Jennie Paul as the Publicity Officer.

The Guild will be holding its monthly 10 bell practice at All Saints on 11th March with ringing taking place between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Christmas Day ringing

It is pleasing to be able to report that members of the Northampton Ringers Society on Christmas Day rang the bells of the Town Centre churches where there were morning services. Members taking part were Stephen and Helen Hayward, Giles Willson, Marian Johnson, Shirley Jones, Ray Starmer, Nick Chatt, Nick Parsons and Graham Paul.

Ringing school

Bridget's Ringing school at All Saints this Saturday, 10th December, is cancelled due to shortage of staff.

Special practices

A series of special practices will take place on Wednesdays in August 2016 instead of the normal practices. Subjects to be covered will be as follows:
"Plain hunting and ringing Plain Bob Doubles" on 3rd August at All Saints, Harpole; "Conducting touches of triples" on 10th August at Holy Sepulchre; "Can your bell handling be improved" on 17th August at St Giles; "Ringing surprise major" on 24th August at All Saints; and "Ten bell methods" on 31st August at St Giles. All practices will begin at 7 pm and last for two hours.

Visiting ringers

Two visiting bands rang in Northampton on Saturday July 16th 2016. A band from Hemel Hempstead visited St Peter's from 9.30 am to 10.20 am, St Giles from 10.45 am to 11.45 am, All Saints from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm and finally Holy Sepulchre between 2.45 pm and 3.45 pm. Ringers from Middlesex rang for an hour at the same towers immediately after the Hemel Hempstead band had finished.
